{"id":813,"date":"2026-04-10T13:30:33","date_gmt":"2026-04-10T04:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cged.sophia.ac.jp\/safics\/?p=813"},"modified":"2026-04-10T13:30:34","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T04:30:34","slug":"20260409e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cged.sophia.ac.jp\/safics\/eng\/20260409e\/","title":{"rendered":"New Certificate Program Launched: \u201cSophia-Africa Future Initiatives for Collaborations (SAFICs)\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Under this initiative, building on Sophia University\u2019s accumulated achievements in educational and research collaboration with the African region, we will introduce new courses and programs in an integrated manner and launch a new certificate program titled <strong>\u201cSophia-Africa Future Initiatives for Collaborations (SAFICs).\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This program aims to cultivate students who can contribute broadly to society by approaching issues from multiple perspectives\u2014including anthropology, sociology, economics, and global environmental studies\u2014and by working toward the realization of a sustainable, circular society that balances economic development and environmental conservation, particularly in the African context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sophia University offers a wide range of courses and practical activities related to Africa, international cooperation, and global environmental issues. While these can be taken individually, students who complete them in a structured manner and earn the required credits will be awarded the certificate \u201cSophia-Africa Future Initiatives for Collaborations (SAFICs)\u201d (Open Badge)*.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/cged.sophia.ac.jp\/safics\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/img-batch-en-1-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cged.sophia.ac.jp\/safics\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/img-batch-en-1-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/cged.sophia.ac.jp\/safics\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/img-batch-en-1-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/cged.sophia.ac.jp\/safics\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/img-batch-en-1.png 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>This certificate serves as evidence of student\u2019 learning, demonstrating the issues they have engaged with and how they have developed their knowledge and skills\u2014valuable for future academic pursuits and career opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To obtain the SAFICs certificate, students must complete the core course <strong>\u201cSophia-Africa Future Initiatives for Collaborative Solutions (SAFICS),\u201d<\/strong> three courses selected from the designated elective group, and one practical course, and then apply for the certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Detailed requirements and application procedures are available on the student portal site, My Sophia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Exchange students from African countries are also eligible to obtain this certificate by fulfilling the requirements during their study period at Sophia University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We look forward to the active participation of our students!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>*What is an Open Badge?<br>An Open Badge is a digital credential that can be issued and shared online.
